Lets Talk about Wu-Tang

It all started on Staten Island…

If we’re talking about hip hop, we need to talk about the legend of the Wu-Tang Clan. As you all know, hip hop has shaped the black culture significantly and the Wu-Tang Clan has been one of the master molders. Starting in 1992 Rakeem (RZA) and his cousin, The Genius (GZA) both recently dropped from their labels, decided to take a path of their own. This led RZA to gather all of the New York City’s, Staten Island MC’s to form the Wu-Tang Clan, stating that “If you eat McDonalds, you gonna get sick. You need a real home-cooked meal. And I knew that that would be healthier. And that’s what Wu-Tang was: It was a home cooked meal of Hip-Hop. Of the real people.” This wasn’t anything but true. What the Wu-Tang Clan did was feed the soul. In fact, their first album, Enter the Wu-Tang reached platinum status within a year of it’s release!
